Veteran’s Day!

American-Flag copy
On November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day following World War I stating: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…” Since that November our nation has celebrated Veteran’s day. You can learn more about Veteran’s day here.

Today, is a day to put your flag out but its also a day to put yourself out there. Make it a point today to thank a Veteran for his or her service. Our nation is great because of the sacrifice that so many have made to insure our freedom. Today is a great day to call family members, friends, or acquaintances and say thank you for making our nation great.

Celebrate Veteran’s Day with your children. Teach your children about the holiday through local events and various activities. has some great ideas on how to do this here…  CNN has a nice article on how you can do more on Veteran’s Day here…
