Thank You Veterans – Carnival Cruise Line – Veteran Appreciation Ceremony

Last week I had the opportunity to take a cruise on the Carnival Cruise ship Breeze out of Galveston, TX for a 7 day Caribbean cruise that was fantastic!  The staff, the weather, the excursions all were outstanding!  What I found to truly be amazing though was that Carnival conducted a Veteran Appreciation Event on Friday – that was truly moving and amazing!   Carnival had an hour Veteran Appreciation Event at the main Ovation Theatre led by Mike Pack the Cruise Director and it was again – outstanding!

From Korea to Afghanistan, to Vietnam, all periods and all services were recognized.  So I wanted to say Thank You – Carnival Cruise Lines and President Christine Duffy, from all of us Veterans, from Elite Leader and spouses and family members, we really appreciated the ceremony and the thank you!  You really touched a lot of Vets and it will be remembered for a lifetime!    Thank you.

***Testimonials***

You are surrounded in an environment where people want to see you succeed, an environment that allows you to recognize your fears and then run right through them. The FMI experience was about as far as you can get from my personal comfort zone. I was forced to expand my mind and adapt to my surroundings. Now there’s no forcing to be done; I’m ready, willing and able dive into the next training exercise. I came away with a renewed sense of confidence, an awakening of my passion for excellence and a deepened appreciation of teamwork. I learned the true meaning of “got your six” and am proud to be a member of my Elite Leader Team. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to shake things up a bit in their organization. You won’t be disappointed.

May was a big month for Team FMI – Joplin as we kicked off our partnership with the City of Joplin, MO and the Joplin Welcome Home Veterans Program.  On May 15th, Joplin Mayor Michael Seibert recognized former military members and May Military Appreciation Month with a Mayoral Proclamation.  Representatives from 10 Veteran organizations, active, reserve and National Guard members were also in attendance for this memorable event.  The City of Joplin values it’s Veterans and is leading the charge in support of Veterans, and is great place for Veterans and their families.

May – National Military Appreciation Month

May – National Military Appreciation Month

Join the celebration!  What are you doing for National Military Appreciation Month?

National Appreciation Month started as a simple idea; to gather America around its military family to honor, remember, recognize and appreciate those who serve and have served all while knowing its history. Legislated twice, this idea continues to evolve experiencing increased national attention & recognition!

In April of 2004, more comprehensive legislation was passed by unanimous consent of both Houses of Congress as H. Con. Res. 328 solidified May as National Military Appreciation Month.  It also reminds the President of the United States to issue annual proclamations calling Americans to recognize this special month through appropriate ceremonies and events.

Most intriguing to National Military Appreciation Month success is that it’s built from the ground up by a handful of volunteers with genuine desire to motivate public patriotism, awareness and support for our troops, veterans and their families.

Our military continues to play a major role in the development of our country chronicled through history of unbending honor, dedication to duty and genuine love of country. Alarming is younger generations who distance themselves by lacking awareness of, nor value the service given by our family Americans; many of whom are of the “Greatest Generation” that we see now.  Schools rarely teach crucial military events that turned the course of history evident as they continue to lose connection with our own American history.  Names like Pearl Harbor, San Juan Hill, Civil War, Continental Army, 38th Parallel, Berlin Airlift, Tet Offensive and Normandy continue to loose their significance within the general American population; particularly our future generations – our youth.  Because of this, we now combine American Military History Month into the month of May encouraging educators to develop lesson plans that will highlight the history of each military branch.

As most holidays commemorating historical military events become marketing avenues to distract our focus on its original purpose; this month is necessary to remind us of the sacrifices and the history we as Americans have been privileged to participate in throughout the past 237 years.

Due to military deployments worldwide protecting our national interests, Americans are asked to serve. And employers are asked to accommodate these lengthy absences adding demands on the employees. Our military represents the highest caliber of professionalism, patriotism and technology and all we ask to willingly risk their lives on a moments notice.  So family Americans; lets willingly and openly recognize their contributions and sacrifices of their families!  Thank you!

GOD BLESS AMERICAS ARMED FORCES – OUR FOUNDATION TO FREEDOM!
