On July 22, Forward March Inc. and the Missouri National Guard hosted a Job Fair at Camp Crowder in Neosho, MO. The job fair was an opportunity for employers to see Soldiers and Officers in their environment during their two week annual training.
Employers from Neosho, Joplin and surrounding areas came and set up booths for Soldiers to learn more about their companies and open positions and then got to brave the heat and tour the camp and experience first hand what the Soldiers do during the Annual Training, like the repel tower and obstacle course.
Forward March Inc. and the MO National Guard work closely to help facilitate better opportunities for both employers and Soldiers. Steve Bashore, General Manager of Buffalo Run Casino, presented Director of Leader Development, Jimmy Burgess, Forward March Inc. with a check as a way of giving back to the local veteran community for their service and sacrifice to the country.
Buffalo Run has a great history of showing appreciation for Military Veterans, both for employment and in their customer base. This year, they have partnered with Forward March Inc. in sponsoring military-esque jerseys for the Joplin Outlaws Military Appreciation Night, July 1st at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin. After the game the jerseys, along with other items, will be auctioned off. All proceeds from that event are going to the Heartland Canines for Veterans, a non-profit organization that places service dogs with Veterans.
Forward March Inc. would like to take this opportunity to say thank you, to Steve Bashore, Jerry Venis, and Buffalo Run Casino for their support!
Joplin Outlaws Military Appreciation Night is July 1st at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin, MO. Doors open at 5pm. First pitch is at 7pm, performed by actual service dogs… you can’t miss it!
If you or your company would also like to sponsor the event, you can contact Jimmy Burgess @ 888-723-6223 x225. All proceeds go to the Heartland Canines for Veterans (501c).
At Forward March Inc. we appreciate the military spouse that has supported our team members from deployments to long days in the office and through so much more. As Veterans we can never say thank you enough for their sacrifice, support and sustainment of our military families.
In 1984, President Ronald Regan declared May 23 as the first Military Spouse Day. Soon after, U.S. Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger standardized the date by declaring the Friday before Mother’s Day as Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Later, in 1999, Congress officially made the observance a part of National Military Appreciation Month.
Military spouses don’t sign on any dotted lines or deploy in defense of our country, but they serve just the same. Their experiences help develop them into the strong, competent, thoughtful, resourceful, engaging people who make up our military community.
The Military spouse population is large. There are more than 680,000 active duty spouses who play and important part in the military community. Due to their spouses’ military duty they face many unique challenges. Spouses are and have always been an essential part of the military Family and they contribute to readiness by allowing military members to remain focused on their missions. They are the “force behind the force” and support military members with courage through difficult circumstances, which include numerous household moves as well as stressful deployments.
The Strength of our military members comes from the strength of their Families and the military spouse is the backbone, the support and strength.
In honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day, DoDLive blogger Josiah Wilson pulled together some quick facts about military spouses and featured them in this fantastic infographic.
Join the celebration! What are you doing for National Military Appreciation Month?
National Appreciation Month started as a simple idea; to gather America around its military family to honor, remember, recognize and appreciate those who serve and have served all while knowing its history. Legislated twice, this idea continues to evolve experiencing increased national attention & recognition!
In April of 2004, more comprehensive legislation was passed by unanimous consent of both Houses of Congress as H. Con. Res. 328 solidified May as National Military Appreciation Month. It also reminds the President of the United States to issue annual proclamations calling Americans to recognize this special month through appropriate ceremonies and events.
Most intriguing to National Military Appreciation Month success is that it’s built from the ground up by a handful of volunteers with genuine desire to motivate public patriotism, awareness and support for our troops, veterans and their families.
Our military continues to play a major role in the development of our country chronicled through history of unbending honor, dedication to duty and genuine love of country. Alarming is younger generations who distance themselves by lacking awareness of, nor value the service given by our family Americans; many of whom are of the “Greatest Generation” that we see now. Schools rarely teach crucial military events that turned the course of history evident as they continue to lose connection with our own American history. Names like Pearl Harbor, San Juan Hill, Civil War, Continental Army, 38th Parallel, Berlin Airlift, Tet Offensive and Normandy continue to loose their significance within the general American population; particularly our future generations – our youth. Because of this, we now combine American Military History Month into the month of May encouraging educators to develop lesson plans that will highlight the history of each military branch.
As most holidays commemorating historical military events become marketing avenues to distract our focus on its original purpose; this month is necessary to remind us of the sacrifices and the history we as Americans have been privileged to participate in throughout the past 237 years.
Due to military deployments worldwide protecting our national interests, Americans are asked to serve. And employers are asked to accommodate these lengthy absences adding demands on the employees. Our military represents the highest caliber of professionalism, patriotism and technology and all we ask to willingly risk their lives on a moments notice. So family Americans; lets willingly and openly recognize their contributions and sacrifices of their families! Thank you!
GOD BLESS AMERICAS ARMED FORCES – OUR FOUNDATION TO FREEDOM!

“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.” – US Department of Labor
What better way to celebrate the labor of this great nation than by adding our nation’s heroes to your company labor mix? Veterans bring a wealth of benefits to any organization. Check out our earlier post to learn more.
It has been an outstanding week here at Forward March Inc! We are very proud and honored to have the opportunity to do real and meaningful work helping veterans find great careers. When you bring that aspect of our work together with employers that are genuinely excited about learning how to hire veterans and build a vibrant veteran culture within their organizations, then you get the real magic that keeps us all very excited and motivated each and every day.
Hiring Veterans is not an easy task; if it were, there would not be so many different companies and institutions offering such a wide array of services and systems for how to go about doing it. What separates our company from 99% of the rest of the pack is that we have over 35 years of experience working with companies, state and federal agencies, educational institutions, transitioning military, and veterans. We are a company of veterans committed to helping veterans, and we never get tired of pointing that simple fact out.
We here at Forward March Inc want to take the time to salute anyone who is committed to hiring veterans.
It’s an easy thing for companies to tout that they are veteran friendly, or that they have a veteran hiring plan, but it really is quite shocking just how many companies actually use this as a simple marketing ploy but actually do very little to deliver real and meaningful employment to veterans. For those companies who actually stand by their public campaigns of commitment to our nation’s heroes, we salute you! For those companies and organizations who want to be in that group of companies who want to help our nation’s heroes we are here to help you. Our solutions are unique in the industry. Our solutions are scalable, customizable, and flexible. Contact us today to find out more.
