Forward March Inc. and the Joplin Outlaws Team Up

Outlaw stadium pic

About two months ago, the Joplin Outlaws reached out to FMI’s Joplin Director, Jimmy Burgess to put together and run Military Appreciation Night at Joe Becker Stadium. He happily accepted and took the reigns, leading the Outlaws to have their best showing this season and raising money for the Heartland Canines for Veterans. Heartland is a non-profit organization that helps place service dogs with Veterans who need them.

With an incredible show of support and love from the Joplin Community, fans poured into the seats to enjoy a fun filled night full of good baseball, service dogs, Veterans and good food. turkey legsRed’s House BBQ and Cheezies Pizza were in attendance feeding the masses and both contributed to Heartland.

The atmosphere was amazing as the Joplin Outlaws took on the Joplin All-Stars in a non-league game. The game started with a memorable first pitch made by service dog, Athena. She was sent in to pitch after the decision was made by Outlaw coach, Danny Weaver, when he noticed the Master Trainer, Tim Franks of On Command Canine Training needed the help of his service dog to complete the task.

Between the 2nd and 3rd innings fans got to see the product of hard work and dedication of both service dog and Veteran. Two dogs, Lucas and Rapha, after completing over 260 hours of training were partnered with their Veterans, Katie and Brad. They also had to complete over 40 hours of training before becoming Team Leaders over their HK9s.

Currently it costs in the ballpark of $7000 to properly train a service dog. If you would like to help, you can go to Heartland Canines for Veteran’s web page: http://www.heartlandcaninesforveterans.com.

May – National Military Appreciation Month

May – National Military Appreciation Month

Join the celebration!  What are you doing for National Military Appreciation Month?

National Appreciation Month started as a simple idea; to gather America around its military family to honor, remember, recognize and appreciate those who serve and have served all while knowing its history. Legislated twice, this idea continues to evolve experiencing increased national attention & recognition!

In April of 2004, more comprehensive legislation was passed by unanimous consent of both Houses of Congress as H. Con. Res. 328 solidified May as National Military Appreciation Month.  It also reminds the President of the United States to issue annual proclamations calling Americans to recognize this special month through appropriate ceremonies and events.

Most intriguing to National Military Appreciation Month success is that it’s built from the ground up by a handful of volunteers with genuine desire to motivate public patriotism, awareness and support for our troops, veterans and their families.

Our military continues to play a major role in the development of our country chronicled through history of unbending honor, dedication to duty and genuine love of country. Alarming is younger generations who distance themselves by lacking awareness of, nor value the service given by our family Americans; many of whom are of the “Greatest Generation” that we see now.  Schools rarely teach crucial military events that turned the course of history evident as they continue to lose connection with our own American history.  Names like Pearl Harbor, San Juan Hill, Civil War, Continental Army, 38th Parallel, Berlin Airlift, Tet Offensive and Normandy continue to loose their significance within the general American population; particularly our future generations – our youth.  Because of this, we now combine American Military History Month into the month of May encouraging educators to develop lesson plans that will highlight the history of each military branch.

As most holidays commemorating historical military events become marketing avenues to distract our focus on its original purpose; this month is necessary to remind us of the sacrifices and the history we as Americans have been privileged to participate in throughout the past 237 years.

Due to military deployments worldwide protecting our national interests, Americans are asked to serve. And employers are asked to accommodate these lengthy absences adding demands on the employees. Our military represents the highest caliber of professionalism, patriotism and technology and all we ask to willingly risk their lives on a moments notice.  So family Americans; lets willingly and openly recognize their contributions and sacrifices of their families!  Thank you!

GOD BLESS AMERICAS ARMED FORCES – OUR FOUNDATION TO FREEDOM!

R.E.D Friday’s – Remember Everyone Deployed

red friday 12

What is R.E.D. Friday?

RED is an acronym that stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. R.E.D. Friday was created to remind people of our heroes overseas and show that we are thinking of them. People across the country wear red every Friday to serve as a reminder and spread the message of how important it is that we keep our troops in our thoughts.

How did R.E.D. Friday Get Started?

Remember those email chains you used to get asking you to forward to 10 friends – or all of your friends? There were all kinds: some claiming ridiculous things, some trying to raise awareness for campaigns or diseases, and some that were just plain silly. One was a request to Remember Everyone Deployed.  This is how R.E.D. Friday originated: an email chain back in 2005.

I am an Elite Leader: Team Alorica

1 - Elite Leader Logo III

Lead, Develop, and Achieve!  The Leader and the Led  This was the message as Team Alorica embarked on its Elite Leader Training and Team Building at the D-Day Adventure Park.  It was a four-phase event that kicked off with a Leadership development class, progressed to the obstacle course, then on to active team engagements where the teams were challenged to collect critical intel and documents that served as the instructions for the final Team Alorica mission. The mission? to capture the High Value Target at a predetermined location, and then to fly the American flag to indicate mission completion and success.  The Elite Leader Training is progressive leader development from education to application, like the military applies battlefield to boardroom.  It’s an effective way to build camaraderie and morale while integrating military leader training, teamwork, mission preparation and execution.

Team Alorica, investing in and growing their leaders! Hooah!

Team Alorica

The day began with leadership training, continued to the team building course and then grew to 3 challenge courses and then culminated in a combined final mission.
